The IDFPR COVID-19 Temporary Practice Permit expiration date has been extended to 12/31/2021.  All previously issued permits with a prior expiration date will automatically be extended to 12/31/2021.  No further application or documentation is necessary to submit.  Previously issued permits with a prior expiration date should continue to be used until 12/31/2021. No updated permits with the new expiration date will be issued to those already having a permit issued.

Applications for healthcare professionals who have not already received a COVID-19 Temporary Practice Permit are still being accepted for those wishing to help with Illinois COVID-19 patients. 


The Department encourages any healthcare professional wishing to practice in the state of Illinois for an extended period of time to pursue permanent licensure in Illinois for their profession.  You may obtain application information from our website at


Provisions for telehealth services from out-of-state professionals to existing clients in Illinois will continue for the duration of the Illinois Executive Order covering the COVID-19 pandemic emergency and are separate from the IDFPR COVID-19 Temporary Practice Permit and it’s expiration date.
