Our Virtual Lobby Campaign asking everyone to email their letters of support to their Congressional Representatives has begun!!!

We are setting up virtual meetings in our IL Congressional Offices for meetings in May right now.  Your emails are vitally important as they highlight the importance you are placing on asking your Congressional Offices to support these issues.

What are we asking Congressional support for this year?

  1. HR 1956/S1986 – Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Act of 2021.  This bill also includes Pulmonary Rehabilitation as well.  Currently Physician supervision is required for these programs.  This legislation will allow Physician Assistants, Nurse Practioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists to also supervise these programs.
    1. This change has already been approved to start Jan 1, 2024 BUT this bill is asking for the change to be moved up to Jan 1, 2022 – we feel it is important to begin this as soon as possible!  This will increase access to these vitally important programs for our patients!

  1. We are asking for the current temporary waivers that are in place due to the Public Health Emergency (PHE) that allow for providing Pulmonary Rehab and Cardiac Rehab services virtually, to be made permanent after the PHE has ended
    1. This is vitally important so that option to receive both PR and CR Program services can continue to be covered virtually.  This will allow for increased access to these vital programs that improve the health of our patients!
