Annie was a happily busy nurse practitioner, wife and mother when a double diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and pulmonary fibrosis knocked the wind out of her. She knew survival depended on staying healthy, so she focused her efforts on avoiding infection and taking care of herself. Although learning to share the burden of her illness with friends and family was difficult, she soon discovered she had a vibrant support system that couldn’t wait to lend a hand. Nearly 18 months after receiving a bilateral lung transplant, Annie is as active as ever and spreading awareness of the disease as a PFF Ambassador.
