HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARC
Sixty Five years ago on April 15, 1947 a forward thinking group of
health professionals gathered in Chicago, IL, to sign these Articles
of Incorporation, officially forming a brand new organization aimed
at representing the increasing number of people being trained to
provide a newly identified service called inhalation
therapy.
In the six and a half decades since, weve grown from a handful
of pioneers (59 practitioners) into an organization that, at last
count, was more than 49,000 strong, growing every day,
and experiencing an increasing level of influence both inside and
out of health care.
Since 1947, the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
has been committed to enhancing your professionalism as a respiratory
care practitioner, improving your performance on the job, and helping
you broaden the scope of knowledge essen-tial to your success.
With more than 49,000 members nationwide, the AARC is the only
professional society for respiratory thera-pists in hospitals and with
home care companies, managers of respiratory and cardiopulmonary services,
and educators who provide respiratory care training. Text adapted from www.aarc.
